Snowflake Card

Here's my entry that I made tonight for this week's Willow Sketchie Challenge. Have been so busy lately that I decided to keep it relatively simple as I was running out of time to get it in. ;) This week as well as a fun sketch Hazel wanted to see snowflakes, so I decided to use them as my theme. Hope you all like it. :D

Snowflake Card

I used a white base card which I covered with a white and blue snowflake paper which I made. I then cut a rectangle (8cm x 6cm) out of a reversed colour blue and white snowflake paper I made, which I glued 2cm down on the right side of the card. Next I printed a blue snowflake out of Photoshop, cut around it and coated it in glitter glue. Once it was dry I glued it on a 45 degree angle below the rectangle.

To make the big snowflake I cut 2 snowflakes the same size out of white card and then coated them both in glitter glue. I then cut a square out of blue metallic paper (10 x 10cm) and glued it to a piece of white card the same size (to give it more strength). Once the glitter glue was dry I glued one of the snowflakes to the Metallic blue square. I then folded the 'arms' of the 2nd snowflake in half and flattened out the 'branches' off the arms. Next I glued the middle of the 2nd snowflake to the middle of the first on an offset angle. I then attached the square to the card using double sided foam tape. Lastly I made a little Merry Christmas sentiment by rolling in the ends of a small white card rectangle, I then wrote the text in freehand and glued it to the top right of the square.

This was a fun quick card to make and I would like to thank Hazel from Willow Sketchie Challenge for a great theme and sketch. Good luck to all that enter. :D

  4. Another gorgeous card Teegs. You always put so much hard work into your cards, hand cutting everything and making your own sentiments etc., it makes them all the more special.
Thank you for joining us at Willow Sketchie again this week.

  5. Thanks Hazel :-* Yeah time just seems to be slipping by all too quickly lately :-/ Am hoping to get this week's entry in a little sooner though, as we are going away next Thursday, so the few days leading up to it I will be busy busy busy ;)

Thanks Kelly :-* This is the 2nd time I have used snowflakes, and I agree they just add that extra little touch to a card :)

  6. Thanks Lisa :-* You can't have snowflakes without sparkles ;) I always like to have a sentiment on my cards and the scroll was a spare of the moment idea, so I'm glad you liked it :D

Thanks Pauline, I really appreciate your lovely comment :-* I have always been what my Mum calls a 'fiddler', meaning I have always taken something (be it a box, empty bottle etc) and turned it into something out of the ordinary (usually with a lot of fiddly little bits) ;) I really must update my other craft blog (when I can find the time) with a few other things I have made such as a fish out of 1/2 a coke bottle and a cow out of boxes and toilet rolls :) I like to think out of the box so to speak, and am never satisfied unless everything I make has that extra handmade detail... Plus I'm a bit of a perfectionist which doesn't help... Lol ;)

  7. Pauline I forgot to add that before I got back into card making I used to scrapbook... But towards the end I got bored with just making album pages and drifted more to the beyond the page stuff... I found that my creativity and love for all things fiddly and handmade could flourish better in beyond the page items :D I must also post some of these on here... So much to do no time to do it in... Lol ;)

  8. Hi Teegs, I would love to see some of your other creations, I'm going to have a go at scrapbooking myself soon. My family are doing so much at the moment I really think I need to document it somehow so I'm going on a course at my local library in November, that's how I got into card making so watch out!
Look forward to your next Willow Sketchie card.

  9. You'll love it Pauline :D I am currently having a break from it, main reason being apart from my nephew's and boyfriend I don't have much to scrapbook... But hopefully in a couple of years we will start our own little family and then I proberly won't be able to stop Scrapbooking ;) If I can ever be of assistance when you start scrapbooking just give me a yell, I'm more than happy to help a fellow crafter :D
